I like proxy vintage more, Id personally like to see more non-sanctioned Vintage than a sanctioned Legacy

Proxy vintage is ok but the boss should support additional events because that what brings the players in.

True, but Legacy is basically proxy vintage without what people proxy. Shouldnt we try something like Extended, or even EDH? Theres been alot of support for EDH on sunday nights.

i would love to see EDH sanctioned events. unfortunately its not a DCI recognized format just yet. Legacy on the other hand is supported and doesnt have as steep of a cost barrier to be competitive. Wizards doesnt care that we can fill the room on sundays if it isnt reported. they look at sanctioned events when looking at supporting special events here in Alaska.

Good point. I dunno I guess I would just feel outer cause I actually own a Lotus. I think it would be great to have a couple extended before the big extended tourny coming up, but people probably wouldn't play their big tourny decks

yea vintage is for us old timers that played back in 92. legacy is vintage without the p9 cost barrier. if you dont have p9 you have no business competing in vintage. if you care about attendance let people who have spent bloood sweat and tears compete in thier capacity. proxies are awesome for casual because there are no rules let the tournament players reap the rewards that the casual people are to selfish to help with

Wayne's World caters to the players. If enough people want a Legacy Tourny, we'll do.

I would participate in Legacy Tournaments. Eternal formats (Vintage and Legacy) are fun and support each other. My motivation in supporting Legacy is half because it feeds interest in Vintage and half because it is just a good format.

Many of the Vintage staple cards like Dual Lands and Force of Will are also staples in Legacy, so people who own them are more likely to play in the other format if they play in either.

I would disagree that the cost barrier for Legacy is lower than proxy-Vintage. Top Legacy decks are full of $10-$50 cards and get very expensive because they allow no proxies. As an example, a recent Legacy tournament winner played a G/W Enchantress deck; so NO Force of Will, NO Underground Sea, NO Tarmogoyf, etc. It STILL contained a $100 Moat, three $20 Chrome Moxen, two $30 Savannahs, four $15 Windswept Heaths, and a slew of $5-$8 cards I won't even list. That deck cost at least $300, and it was among the mid-to-low cost decks in the format.

Like the Vintage tournaments, offering cards playable in the Legacy format as prizes will have positive long term benefits in creating a Legacy scene in Anchorage, in my opinion. I don't think Vintage and Legacy are exclusive; we should be playing both!

Keep me posted, 'cause I will pay to play.

bottom line is sanctioned events bring prize support to Waynes World. That means ptqs big pre/realease events and hopefully if we can grow the player base out a grand prix or pro tour event. unsanctioned vintage events do nothing but lose the store money in the long run. proxies are bad for the game period dot! cheating should never be condoned and proxy magic only degrades those who care enough about the game to own legit power.

Not true. Proxies serve a very specific purpose, getting new players to play. Rob is a perfect example... He started because he could use proxies. He had a 60 proxy deck and always opted to take store credit instead of cards in the beginning. Now, he takes cards instead of store credit and is lowering his proxy count every tournament. He is a regular vintage player who ONLY plays vintage right now, but if we had a legacy tournament, he would be a good candidate to play because he is engrossed in vintage already!

How? Jean has never run a vintage event at a loss to my knowledge. Interest in one format bleeds interest into other formats, so interest in vintage is good for legacy, extended, etc.

And where are those of us who own power going to play if not at these events? Your remark about cheating is just ludicris.

So let's build the format until we can sanction a vintage event! Supporting vintage on Sunday nights and any new legacy events only helps with this goal!
